St. Paul Wastewater Treatment Plant

Focus Corporation was selected by the Town of St. Paul to upgrade the wastewater headwork of its wastewater plant to allow efficient pumping and flow equalization to the plant. In addition, we proposed to conduct stages of nutrient removal studies to ensure that the plant will comply with more stringent regulatory standards.

The major components of the recent upgrades include a wastewater grinder, a filter bag, pumps, a wet well, piping, flow equalization, an electrical control system and state-of-the-art PLC/HDMI/SCADA/MCC.  All of the upgrades were made with consideration of future plant expansion, primary sedimentation, nutrient removals and sludge stabilization.

We proposed five phases of the nutrient removal process to target ammonia and phosphorous reductions in the treated effluent, which will meet stringent regulatory standards.

Phase I- Wastewater characterization/ Phase II- Generation of One-Year Data and Proposed Treatment/ Phase III- Pilot-Scale testing/ Phase IV- Design and Construction/ Phase V- Process Verification.

Concerns of seasonal variations of water temperature, parameters such as pH, CBOD, TKN, total ammonia, flow, etc. were considered into the plant’s continuous upgrade and future proposal.
