Gas Program

Focus was involved in a large drilling program that saw more than 150 wells and accompanying pipeline tie-ins surveyed, acquired and drilled within a year.

This process began with Focus suggesting an innovative approach to pre-planning.  We used existing maps, photography and terrain modeling to pre-determine well locations prior to field scouting and survey. By creating the 3D model and accurate visual of the project site, Focus and the client were able to place the desired locations and determine the necessary moves, access and pipeline right of way routing together. By predetermining and validating the locations, less than 7% of the wells required further location changes after the field survey began. To reduce the overall survey to plan delivery time, we started preliminary drafts of required plans before the field survey.

This process resulted in a large time and cost savings, as it reduced the scouting time, lag time between field survey and client approved new locations, and field and drafting revisions. This methodology not only provided the client with substantial cost savings, but also increased their efficiencies through significant time gains.
