Oil Sands Exploration
Focus has a proven record of providing core hole or Oil Sands Exploration (OSE) well programs to a number of different clients for over 10 years. Focus provides plans, surveys and maps, as well as advanced technology, such as LiDAR and GPS, to pre-plan OSE wells, minimize field time and maximize OSE program effectiveness. Focus works with clients and their partners to determine specifications and, using the guiding codes, creates an innovative approach to the field survey and map production. Focus has received praise from ASRD, the regulatory body that approves the surface rights to the OSE lands, for the quality of the maps that we have submitted.

In addition to the major oil companies listed above, we have also done and continue to contribute to a number of other OSE projects for smaller exploration companies.
While exploration remains the main focus of heavy oil activities in northeast Alberta, more companies are engaging in heavy oil development. SAGD and surface mining are two of the more common processes used by oil companies in heavy oil extraction. Focus provides a variety of survey services to heavy oil companies:
