“Unusual Application in Geomatics”

Each year the community of surveyors celebrates those aspects of the profession that David Thompson, one of the great trader-explorers of North America, personified; innovation, contribution to society, and applied technology. They are proud to recognize and honour individuals who have demonstrated significant accomplishments, vision, and leadership in their work.

We are pleased to announce that Focus has been awarded the David Thompson Award for “Unusual Application in Geomatics”. The Award was given to Jim Sutherland in our Fort St. John office for the creation of an Interactive 3D Model using digital photography. Jim would like to recognize Jerzy Janusz for acquiring the aerial imagery to make the 3D modeling possible and Jordan Sutherland for developing the image/modeling process workflow and interactive plan presentation format.
