Anniversary
November 2, 2006
CALGARY, ALBERTA-Focus Corporation is pleased to announce that its office in
Truro, Nova Scotia is celebrating a very successful first anniversary.
"The Truro office has been an overwhelming success and we are very proud to be
the first Alberta geomatics company to open a Maritime office," explains Jim
MacLeod, Calgary Regional Manager. We made a financial commitment to the people
of Atlantic Canada and they have played a key role in helping us serve our oil
and gas clients in Western Canada."
The Truro office opened on October 18, 2005. Focus was very keen to invest in
Atlantic Canada because there is a talented pool of people with land surveying,
mapping and drafting skills. In addition, Focus regularly recruits geomatics
graduates from the University of New Brunswick, Nova Scotia Community
College--Centre of Geographical Sciences and College of the North Atlantic.
"It is a great feeling to know that Focus has made a commitment to our staff and
our families," explains Roy Lavender, Manager of the Truro office. "We have
some wonderful people, a great work atmosphere and we perform a lot of
drafting, mapping and survey calculations to support the Alberta offices."
Focus is the largest provider of land surveying and mapping services to the oil
and gas industry in Western Canada. The Truro office has exceeded expectations
and currently has 14 employees. The office is also in the process of expanding
and is projected to employ more than 30 people by the end of 2007. Currently,
20% of Focus' workforce is originally from the Maritime Provinces.
