Focus to Provide Subconsulting Services to the City of Calgary’s New West Light Rail Transit Project CALGARY, ALBERTA – Focus Corporation is pleased to announce that Calgary City Council has approved prime consultant Hatch Mott MacDonald’s (HMM) proposal for the new West Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line. This project is the first new line to be added in more than 20 years, and it will extend the city’s C-Train system by eight kilometers (km). This includes 2.4 km’s of elevated guideway, a 1.4 km tunnel, six stations and two park-and-ride lots. HMM will lead the Owner’s Engineer team utilizing its in-house specialized expertise for this design-build contract which includes all main civil & track work, stations, systems and signals. Acting as the project manager HMM is also tasked with developing a traction-power modernization strategy, advancing the preliminary design and developing the design-build reference concept. Focus will provide subconsulting services in the areas of roadway planning, traffic analysis, transit facilities, topographic surveys and utilities. GEC Architecture is the subconsultant for architectural services.
