Scope
Focus has been contracted by Nexen Canada Ltd. to provide comprehensive mapping, land surveying and project management services to assist in the development of the Long Lake Oilsands Project. Focus has delivered detailed compile mapping and a range of land surveying services including surveying core holes, wellsites, commercial padsites, construction layout, pipelines and roads. Focus is providing services to Nexen on an as-needed basis for different phases of the project.

The Long Lake Project is a joint venture project between Nexen Canada Ltd. and Opti Canada Inc. to produce premium synthetic crude. The $3 Billion project is located approximately 40 km southeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta near the hamlet of Anzac. Nexen and OPTI have a 50/50 joint ownership of the lease and plan to produce 70,000 barrels per day using steam assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) to extract bitumen from the oil sands.
