DOUBLE BARREL SEWER REHABILITATION

Scope
Focus provided engineering consulting services to the Drainage Services Department of the City of Edmonton as part of the Double Barrel Sewer Rehabilitation project. Focus was retained as part of the consulting team to undertake the design of a new large diameter storm sewer installation in West Edmonton. This new storm sewer is a 2340 mm diameter tunnel with an overall length of 800m and is approximately 18m below ground.

The project is a component of an overall scheme to upgrade existing infrastructure and specifically address the new storm tunnel in parallel with the existing storm/sanitary double barrel pipe.

The details of the design also included the connection of tunnels to the existing storm sewers and the replacement/reconnection of existing sanitary sewers and manholes to the new parallel sanitary system.
