The Focus Kelowna office proudly sponsored the concrete toboggan team from UBC, Okanagan campus. The idea around this competition is to build and safely race a toboggan with a running surface made completely of concrete, which contains 50% Portland Cement. The 38th Annual University Engineering Student competition was held in Calgary and hosted by the University of Calgary. Nineteen teams from across Canada competed in this year’s competition. Santa’s Anonymous is an annual campaign devoted to bettering the lives of children by delivering the "spirit" of Christmas to less fortunate children'. Focus employees are very active with Santa's Anonymous and volunteer annually by donating, wrapping and delivering gifts. Focus team members worked as a multi-discipline team to provide municipal, bridge, geomatics and environment services. The team recently completed topographic survey, modeling and project management for feasibility, design and construction of an environmentally sensitive access road, a 100T bridge and a pedestrian bridge crossing of Pipestone Creek.
